Discover What Makes Effective Prayers For Prosperity

By Zoe Smith

Abundance and prosperity is a desire deeply and firmly rooted in every man's (or woman's) heart. It is innate in us to want the life filled to the overflow with good things. Many times people may misconstrue this as greediness but such mindsets are only brought upon by a poverty mentality that conditions one to think that there is a ceiling to what the world thinks you should have. Do not be misled Friend, you are destined to be wealthy - you need only to believe it and desire it to be so.

Children live uncomplicated lives. What do they do when they want something? They ask. We too can ask and pray for prosperity and expect to receive it simply because we are meant to be in abundance. You heard right, you can be rich and nothing but your own thinking can stop you from realizing this truth. Do you know that many great people, known and unknown, have said prayers of prosperity with unbelievable results? Truly, it doesn't matter where we've been, what we've done or who we are-we can all have amazing lives.

Jabez is a man not a lot of people know. His life of obscurity is punctuated by a few lines in the book of Chronicles (1 Chronicles 4:10) found in the Bible. We don't know a lot about him but if you're looking for prayers of prosperity, Jabez gets top marks. This is what he prayed for to his God: "Oh, that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!"

Jabez is Hebrew for 'cause of pain'-- imagine that, your own mother naming you 'pain'. It did not stop Jabez from reaching and wanting more out of his life. He cried out to God for enlarged territory and blessings which we can read as increased influence and favor to surround his life. Observe that he did not stop there. Jabez asked God that he may not be what his name said he was - a source of pain. His short biography ended well as we see in the last line of the verse: God granted him what he requested.

What can we learn from Jabez? Your past does not dictate your future - anyone can have an abundant life. Believe that God wants you prosperous. Sometimes it's not a matter of knowing if God can but if He will. You are His creation and if you know Him intimately, you will understand that He desires to see us blessed even more than we want it for ourselves. As you pray for prosperity, do not neglect to pray for the capacity to be the best that you can be for other people as well.

Because you know your God's heart and the value you have, be bold in coming to Him in prayer. You will find blessings; and when you do, it will be a happy and natural thing for you to want to bless others as well. Remember you are meant not just to be a success - you were meant to be significant.
